Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

This policy covers Loop (the web app at this domain) and the "Loop for Mercadona" browser extension, together "Loop." Loop helps you plan a recurring grocery list and apply it to your own Mercadona account.

Information Loop collects

  • Account information: the email and password you sign up with (passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text).
  • Your grocery list and schedule: the products, quantities, and frequencies you add, plus the planned baskets and basket-run history Loop generates from them.
  • Mercadona link status: whether your Mercadona account is currently linked via the browser extension (a true/false flag only).
  • Product catalog cache: publicly-visible Mercadona product and category data (names, prices, images) used to power browsing inside Loop. This is the same for every user and contains no personal data.
  • Shopping-assistant chat messages: if you use the in-app chat widget, your messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. See Anthropic's own privacy policy for how they handle that data.

What the browser extension does with your Mercadona session

The Loop for Mercadona extension acts inside your own, already-logged-in tienda.mercadona.es browser session. When you link your account, it captures the authentication token, customer id, and warehouse id that Mercadona's own website already sends on its own requests.

  • That token and id are stored only in your browser's local extension storage. They are never sent to Loop's servers or any third party — they are used solely to make direct, authenticated requests to tienda.mercadona.es on your behalf (reading your cart, updating quantities), the same as if you did it yourself.
  • The extension only acts when you explicitly click a button in Loop — linking your account, or confirming a basket. It never runs on a timer or acts on page load.
  • After each action, the extension reports the outcome to Loop's backend (e.g. whether linking succeeded, or which items were added to your cart and the resulting total) so Loop can show you that history. This report never includes your Mercadona authentication token, customer id, or password.

How your information is used

Solely to provide Loop's functionality: building your recurring list, generating and tracking planned baskets, applying them to your Mercadona cart when you ask, and answering questions in the shopping assistant. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties.

Where data is stored

Loop's account and list data is stored in a Postgres database (Neon), hosted alongside the app on Vercel. Your Mercadona authentication token never reaches this database — it stays in your browser.

Your choices

You can unlink your Mercadona account at any time from Loop's settings, which clears the token from your browser's local storage. To request deletion or export of your Loop account data, contact us at pedroruedaca@gmail.com.
